With its 594.180 km² of surface, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world and it is situated off the coast of Monzambique; it extends along longitudinal between 12° and 25° parallel to the south of equator in the range of the tropic of Capricorn. The most distintive part of island is the deep reed color of the land, rich in iron. Precisely because of clear difference of land ferrous, Madagascar is also called Red Island (or Red Continent).
